Game day just got cozier. This week I finished a lap quilt featuring a Michigan Wolverines football panel, and let me tell you — the maize and blue never looked so snuggly.

Panel quilts are such a fun challenge. The fabric does a lot of the heavy lifting visually, so the real magic is in choosing a quilting pattern that adds texture and dimension without stealing the spotlight from the design itself. For this one, I went with a star pattern. It’s classic, clean, and just the right amount of extra. It gives the quilt a finished, polished look while letting those Wolverines shine.
This one was a housewarming gift for a Michigan transplant who now calls Texas home. Because no matter how much you love your new state — and Texas does have a lot going for it — there’s something about wrapping up in your team’s colors that makes any place feel a little more like home. We may be Lone Star country, but we can respect a Wolverine fan finding their people.
Speaking of gifts, there’s something really satisfying about making something you know is going straight to a good home as a house warming gift.
